Lana Trotovsek, violin
Slovenian violinist Lana Trotovsek is emerging as one of the most talented violinists of her generation. She performs troughout Europe with orchestras and as a recital soloist to critical and public acclaim. She has been invited to perform at international festivals such as The Santander International Festival in Spain, Emilia Romagna Festival in Italy, Novi Sad Festival in Serbia, The International Music Festival in Bled, Slovenia and The Festival Ljubljana.
As a concerto soloist she has toured throughout Italy, the UK, Slovenia, Spain and Serbia with orchestras such as the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by George Pehlivanian, the Radio Television Symphony Orchestra from Belgrade, Hungarian Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, the Four Seasons Chamber Orchestra from Moscow, the Vox Aurae Orchestra from Brescia, Italy and recently performed with the Canterbury Symphony Orchestra in England and the Metropolitan Symphonia in St.John's Smith Square, London. Future performances include Bach's Violin Concerto with the Milano Classica Chamber Orchestra in Slovenian Philharmonic Hall and Beethoven's Violin Concerto with the German Chamber Orchestra Frankfurt am Main in the Czech Republic.

Lana was born in 1983 to a family of gifted musicians in Ljubljana, Slovenia. She started to play the violin when she was five and went to study at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana with Primoz Novsak and Volodja Balzalorsky. She was quickly noticed for her talent and was chosen to perform as a soloist in Ljubljana with Gaudeamus Chamber Orchestra, the School of Performing Arts Orchestra and the String Chamber Orchestra »Pro Musica«. During this time she was the top winner of the the XII° Concorso Musicale Europeo »A.e V. Marcosig« in Gorizia, Italy, and a prize winner in the Temsig Competition of Slovenian Musicians. She was then discovered by Ruggiero Ricci, who invited her to study with him at the Mozarteum Salzburg.
Lana has enjoyed masterclasses with Ruggiero Ricci, Ivry Gitlis, Tasmin Little, Pierre Amoyal, Giorgy Pauk, Pavel Berman, Lev Guelbard, Rudolf Gahler, Igor Ozim , Vasko Vassilev and Boris Brovtsyn. She currently studies with Rivka Golani at Trinity College of Music in London where she was awarded Friends in New York of TCM Prize and the Vera Kantrovich Solo Bach Prize.
Lana was the recipient of the highest award for arts in all universities in Slovenia, the »Presernova Nagrada«, a distinction to be awarded only on very few occasions.
